Dance performers about dance performance online and live
“In a dance performance, the performer’s body is an artistic object which exists only at a given moment, in a given place, and within a given action. At the same time, it is an object that has all the properties of a subject, i.e. the possibility of self-reflection and transformation of itself as an object. What happens when a performer finds himself in several places at once, in environments where all the involved are together and at the same time separate behind the glass of cameras and monitors?”
Solo Not Just for One Body – a performative lecture, which has moved from a stage (of the LAB Theatre in Bratislava and the New Synagogue in Žilina at Kiosk festival) directly to your screens.
Its online version is a new phenomenon in the live dance performance. A phenomenon brought by the late era of the inevitable isolation. Here and now is gaining a whole new dimensions and meanings in the virtual world. The performers meet and work without standing next to each other. They work togheter, yet each one of them is elsewhere. Thanks to the advanced technologies of today, everything that happens is mediated. The limits are set by a camera lens and a screen horizon.
